Kitiara a swedish musician and composer

 

Kitiara Braune was born in 1996 in Germany. In her earliest years her family and she moved to northern Scandinavia where she discovered the violin. At the age of 4, she already received violin lessons from Henryk Nowakowski and even had the honor to play in front of His Majesty The King of Sweden, Karl XVI. Gustav when she was 8.

 

Each year Kitiara traveled to Salzburg, the cradle of classical music, to receive lessons from the late Prof. Jürgen Geise, and later on Prof. Roland Baldini.

 

In 2008, she continued  her music education at the music school of Lilla Akademien in Stockholm under the guidance of the violin teachers Nina Balabina and her late husband Oleg Balabine.

 

Kitiara received her Bachelor Diploma in Classical Music Performance in 2018 from the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) in Oslo, with the violin professor  Terje Moe Hansen. She is currently studying for her Master's degree at said academy.

 

Music has brought her around half the globe. Kitiara has had concerts in a major part of Europe spanning from both Europe's northernmost and southernmost cities in Norway and  Malta. In the far east she has performed in Beijing and as a member of the Swedish National Youth Orchestra she has been on a tour through the United States, including a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York.

 

In Sweden Kitiara received multiple scholarships from the Odd Fellows,  the Royal Academy of Music, the Lilly and Henry Sandberg Scholarship  as well as the Welin-Scholarship.

 

She has also participated in national and international competitions. In 2011 she won the talent price at Øresunds Solist. At Polstjärnepriset in 2012 she got 3rd place, later in the same year  a 1st price at Stockholms International Music Competition and the following year Kitiara won the Giovanni Talenti Competition in Italy. In 2017 won a 1st price and she was the only violinist that came to the Superfinals in Norways most important Youth-competition for classical music: UMM, and in 2018 she received a 1st price from the newly founded North International Music Competition.

 

Right now Kitiara is playing on a french intrument by Gilles as a loan from Dextra Musica Norway. She also plays on a german violin by Seidl.
